Our Journey
Laker Builders Merchant began life as ‘Laker Building & Fencing Supplies’ in 2010, when Ady Laker began working out of his shed selling timber and fencing. His passion for excellent service enabled Laker BFS to grow into a thriving enterprise with a strong customer base and fantastic reputation very quickly.
In 2020, to reflect its growth and product expansion, Laker BFS rebranded to become Laker Builders Merchant. This exciting period brought with it new sign written tipper vans, uniforms and a fresh new look for the shop-fronts.
Today, both branches in Pulborough and Cranleigh remain proudly independent, family run and continue to provide a first class service across Sussex and Surrey. With a solid team supporting local tradespeople and DIY customers to fix, build and renew, we’re proud to offer quality products and a friendly face whenever you need it.

We are mindful of our environmental impact and continually seek ways to operate more sustainably, sourcing responsibly and reducing waste where we can. We use electric forklift trucks and ensure our delivery journeys are routed effectively to reduce driving time and fuel use.
